German official arrested for alleged Russian espionage
Aide to far-right MEP Maximilian Krah accused of spying for China
Jian G, a German national who worked for AfD MEP Maximilian Krah, has been arrested by Saxony State.
Krah has said he was questioned by the FBI about possible payments from Russia last December. He said he had learned of Guos arrest from the media and would stop working with him if the charges were true.
Guo is accused of spying for the Chinese government. He is said to have gathered information on German politicians and businesses.
The arrest of a German national for alleged espionage is a reminder of the threat posed by foreign intelligence agencies. It is important for all countries to be vigilant against espionage and to take steps to protect their national security.
