Sean McVay: Eric Yarber Will Have Rams' WRs Ready with Puka Nacua Out

McVay: Yarber Will 'Do a Great Job' with Rams' Receivers

Sean McVay is optimistic about Eric Yarber's ability to prepare the Rams' wide receivers for the upcoming season, despite the loss of Puka Nacua. "I think Eric is going to do a great job. He's got a lot of experience, he's a great teacher, and he's got a great rapport with our players," McVay said. "I think he's going to be able to get those guys ready to play." Nacua, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during a non-contact drill last week. He is expected to miss the entire 2023 season. Yarber, who has been the Rams' assistant wide receivers coach since 2020, will take over as the team's wide receivers coach. He has a long history of working with young receivers, having spent time with the Rams, Dolphins, and Browns.

Yarber Has a 'Winning Mentality'

McVay said Yarber has the experience and the right mindset to lead the Rams' wide receivers. "He's a winner. He's been a part of winning programs," McVay said. "He's got a winning mentality." Yarber was a part of the Rams' Super Bowl LVI championship team in 2022. He also helped the Dolphins and Browns develop several young receivers, including Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills, and Rashard Higgins.

Yarber Will Be Challenged by Rams' Young Receivers

Yarber will be challenged by the Rams' young receiving corps, which includes several players with limited NFL experience. Cooper Kupp, the Rams' leading receiver in 2022, is the only receiver on the roster with more than 50 career receptions. Van Jefferson, who is expected to start opposite Kupp, has just 113 career receptions. The Rams also have several other young receivers, including Brandon Powell, Tutu Atwell, and Jefferson's brother, Sha披露n. Despite the lack of experience, McVay is confident Yarber will be able to get the Rams' receivers ready to play. "I think he's got the ability to get those guys ready to play," McVay said. "I think he's going to be a great addition to our staff."
