Real Madrid hero Guti: This team BETTER than Galacticos

'We never had this desire to win everything'

Real Madrid hero Guti believes the current team is better than the Galacticos side he played in.

The Galacticos, which included the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Luis Figo and David Beckham, won five La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues between 2000 and 2006.

However, Guti, who played for Real Madrid for 15 years, believes the current team is even better.

"This team is more than Galacticos," Zidane is cited as saying. "We never had this desire to win everything."

Real Madrid are currently top of La Liga, five points clear of Barcelona, and are also in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

They are on course to win a third successive Champions League title, which would be a record for the club.

Guti's comments come after Real Madrid's 3-1 win over Juventus in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in the game, taking his tally for the season to 43.

Real Madrid are now the favorites to win the Champions League, and Guti believes they can go on to achieve even more.

"This team has the potential to be the best Real Madrid team of all time," Guti said.

"They have the quality, the desire and the experience to win everything."
